The reps all seem to be nice.
Good God, where do I start. There is no communication between Airtours and travel agents, they mess you around from start to finish and cannot even be bothered to respond to your letters when you have a valid complaint.
Airtours have given me the worst customer service that I have ever known from a company. It is no surprise to me that this particular company is loosing its market share!!
I will start at the beginning:
I booked a two-week holiday to Cyprus in January 2004 to holiday in June 2004. I upgraded at a cost of £50 per person to get 5lbs extra baggage allowance and also paid £30 per person to pay for extra legroom. When I go to the airport in June, I was then told that because I was travelling on a different airline (last minute change) I would only have 20lbs baggage allowance and the extra legroom seats could not be claimed. Due to the fact that I had packed for 25lbs - I ended up paying money to get my bags on the plane!!! Then there was the fact that I had made arrangements with the tour operator to have meals of our choice - but the airline had no knowledge of this. I had the receipt with me as this had happened the year before as well.
I complained upon arriving back home as the travel agent said that this should not have happened. I complained in writing and received the poorest 10 line response without the refund of £130 that I was due because I paid for extras that did not materialise.
I am still fighting this with Airtours and I would recommend that no one book a holiday with this tour operator again. They are so shoddy and give very little respect to their customers.
I have travelled with Airtours for the last 8 years - and I can honestly say that I have received very bad service from them for two years in a row. I booked my 2005 Summer Holiday with First Choice yesterday in a 4 star hotel (half board) which cost me £500 less than last years self catering holiday did. And I have had the last laugh because I know that at least 39 of my friends will not travel with Airtours again after I told them of my experience.
