Good Points

Good Fuel Economy 40 mpg on average, Full size 7 passenger vehicle.

Bad Points

Manual gearbox was changed at 90,000 and at 140,000 has gone again. Gear selector cables have snapped twice once at 65,000 again at 125,000. Front tyres wear out very quickly, brakes only last 10 - 12,000.

General Comments

I bought this Hyundai Trajet GSi TD diesel People Carrier to use for private hire and overall have been quite satisfied especially with the fuel economy and room for passengers and luggage. There have been various problems, the alarm kept triggering itself for no reason eventually sorted by fitting a complete new alarm system, Gear selector cable snapped twice, Gearbox failed at 90,000 initially only affecting 1st and 2nd when reported to agents they said there was a modification out for 2nd gear and would fit the mod only they found too much damage and fitted a new gearbox under warranty now this has failed due to the same problems with 1st and 2nd and have found out the gearbox they fitted did not have the mod either. Recalled late last year to replace the handbrake cable as it snaps without warning.

I've had the same problems with my Hyundai Trajet. The gearbox was changed at 65000 miles, and it is now at 89000 miles. I have also had new roof bars and many dipped headlight bulbs.
