Good Points

Final Fantasy VIII is personnally my FAVOURITE Final Fantasy on PS1. The whole GF-Junction system is one of the most original systems after the sphere grid in Final Fantasy (FF) 10. Difficulty wise, it's one of the most challenging FF's (bosses, enemies, etc). The cinematics are a big up compared to FF 7, the graphics too! Instead of an out of proportion Cloud ,there's a extremely slim Squall worthy of the discovery channel. But still too slim is better than out of proportion don't you think? Nothing to say about the controls, sublime as always.

Bad Points

The statistics of the characters and enemies are not well calculated. Example: with 255 str with Squall at the end is simply not enough, you can hit the boss with 20 Renzozukens and only scratch him(or it I forget?). Vitality and spirit are way toooo strong. At 255(the magical maximum number) it's too easy, forgetting attacks that puts your HP to 1, my trio can tuff exactly 1 hour and 23 minutes before dying. But these are very minor details so it almost doesn't affect the overall note.

General Comments

All in all there's only one word to describe Final Fantasy VIII: a Masterpiece. Many people will say that it's not so but let's review what a masterpiece is , shall we? It's something that most people enjoy(humm that's one point for FF8), it's original and nothing ressembles it(well everything is this game is unique, the plot, the gameplay even the characters...). It's or was a blockbuster on the market(well at i-don't-know-how-many-millions-of-copies sold you can't argue..)So there you have it, maybe today it's not the top-knotch video game but fall back 5-6 years and compare it to any video game graphically, gameplay wise or even storyline wise, you'll see!
