brinmont's Review of E and L Pet Insurance
17th Jan 2005
Overall Rating
- Value for money

- Customer service

- Have you made a claim?Yes
Very competitive premiums.
Bad Points
Hard to deal with, take a long time to settle claims, make a lot of "add ons" to premiums.
General Comments
I have dealt with E and L Pet Insurance for some time, they will do their best to make processing claims as difficult as possible. Their latest delay policy is once liability has been accepted by them, a letter will be issued after 3-4 weeks, this is simply a statement of claim asking you to sign it, then they will process payment which takes another 4 weeks. Be very careful and read terms thoroughly. You must report when a pet becomes ill, you must update them every 3 months
Their attitude towards customers leaves something to be desired and they are most unhelpful.

NINE damning reports on this company should cause anyone grave concern, particularly as no-one has recommended it! This could be absolutely devastating and potentially financially ruining for anyone facing say a £9,000. vet's bill for a dog's heart bypass surgery plus extra costs for convalescent care. Although, as a nation, we are obsessed we securing the best possible price for everything (and generally read very little of important documentation sent to us) that is absolutely no excuse for insurance companies taking advantage and also providing shoddy service. Even when I practised law as a Solicitor (now retired) I was constantly frustrated by a legal system which was clearly heavily biased in favour of criminals, bad debtors, and those deliberately taking advantage. Often it was a waste of time doing anything and I could often relate to individuals taking the law into their own hands! (I am NOT recommending this). Possibly the Financial Services Ombudsman is the best party to complain to (it is certainly the cheapest as it is without cost - other than postage and photocopying) but success very much depends on who takes up your case in that office. Good luck to you all!
