We booked a flight only with Travel City Direct and as a special occasion (my 40th birthday) decided to pay extra for the Sunshine First cabin, our flight out 27 Nov went quite well after an initial delay because of the late loading of cargo. However, the return journey on 11/12 December was a different matter. We checked in exactly on time and the board said our flight would be delayed from 18.20pm to 20.10pm. We were told at check in this was because of a technical problem with our plane. We requested seats in the Sunshine First Cabin, as we had paid for them, were given tickets and told that these were sunshine first cabin tickets. The 20.10 departure came and went, and about 22.30 we were told to board our plane. This was a smaller plane with no sunshine first cabin, and we were put in economy seats. It became apparent that there was an equivalent section of sunshine first where we noticed young children (not supposed to be any children under 12) and people who looked suspiciously like cabin crew and pilots. For such a holiday we had chosen to travel with a bit of style, we would not have booked this flight in economy. Still TCD have only given us £50 each back which was the price of the upgrade for this leg of the journey. We are not at all happy with this. We will never travel with them again and are now considering taking things further with ABTA.
