“I've had the Sony Ericsson HBH-660 for a little time...”

★★★★☆

written by Rafabozzolla on 08/01/2005

Good Points
Practical LCD display
Tight fit and comfortable
Great battery life

Bad Points
Pricey
Lacks advanced funcitions like multiple pairings and redial (at least not indicated in the manual)

General Comments
I've had the Sony Ericsson HBH-660 for a little time now, but I am very pleased with it. At first the fit (where the small speaker clamps to the back of the ear pavillion, instead of pressing against the middle of the it) seemed strange but it took just a few tries to be at ease with the system. Another good thing is how easy and fast it is to put it on. Positioning the ear hook to its lowest position and just sliding it through the back of the ear is even easier than following the manual's instructions (where icons suggest folding the hook 45 outwards before pressing against the ear).

Of course the LCD is great. You just keep the HBH-660 close to you and when a call comes in, check the caller ID and then put it in your ear (it makes you look less of a geek) the phone just lies on your back or pocket. Battery life is great - it is still working on the first charge - and controls are pretty conventional, up and down volume and a MFB.

Pairing with my T610 was straightforward, but that is where the bad points begin. The manual (which is awful BTW) does not mention multiple pairings (for use with two phones, or a phone and a PC/Laptop/Palm), nor does it indicate how to redial last number. I don't know if the headset actually supports these functions, either way SE slipped bad on this one. For a device costing about US$100 the manual had to be better and advanced functions should be part of the package.
