Good Points

The hotel is right opposite the slopes and several of main lifts. The food is very good quality and the resturant staff are very friendly. The spa is brand new and very good for relaxing after a days ski-ing.

Bad Points

The hotel rooms desperately need an overhaul, walls are paper thin so can be very noisey if you are need the disco or you have noisey neighbours.

General Comments

We stayed in Hotel Miramonti over the New year period. I booked the hotel independently through Thomson, but we booked our own flights and Transfer separately. The initial inspection of the room was a bit of shock, this is no where near a 4 * hotel in terms of room standard. Rooms are dull and very out-dated. they are clean, but small things like the alarm clock having buttons missing, and choosing to go off at random times, and the walls having paper peeling or plaster missing, and the fact that you are not given a remote for the TV unless you ask for it at reception. (we were never told this). Despite all of this, the restaurant is where it makes up for its lack of 4 star quality. The restaurant staff are very accommodating and pleasant, the menu is very traditional and you have a good choice of food every night. (Although vegetarians may struggle). The New years Gala dinner surely most hold a local record, for being the most over indulgent evening of food that I have ever come across. Breakfast is buffet style but you can also ask for things like Boiled eggs (which are not out on the table).
The hotel has a new Spa which opened in Dec 2004. Each guest has one free use of the spa and then they have to pay 16 EUR each thereafter. There is a interlocking door between the spa and the hotel pool, which enables guests to use the pool free of charge but not the Spa. Bewared the Pool is normally quite cold, and you have to wear a swimming cap or you are not allowed in.!
There is also a new Disco bar which has been built next door. They have some interesting entertainment seeing as most of their clientele is under the age of 18... it also shuts at 3am, so can be a bit noisy if you have a room which backs on to it.
AS for ski-ing we went with beginners who loved it, and managed evry well on the mostly blues and red runs that line the resort. Intermediates may be a bit more restricted, challenging runs get used a lot and therefore start to get patchy before all the others. There is a new cable car which has just opened to the glacier, there were only 3 runs open. 2 reds and a black. The Black is a great run down to the village.. but now the new cable car is open it can get quite busy.
