Amazing cleaning power.
Quiet.
Well designed apart from.....
... Hose not long enough to do stairs.
Fairly heavy to push around.
I'm impressed with the Bosch Cyclone Jet BUC11700UC. This machine is just about everything the Dyson should have been but wasn't.
I previously owned a Dyson which fell to pieces and I vowed never to own another. I borrowed my mothers cleaner (Dyson DC04?) to clean the dining room.
The sparkly new Bosch arrived the next day, and for interest, I went over the same room (about 14' square) again.
When I had finished, I had to empty the dust bucket!
Other reviewers have said that it is a heavy unit but it is the force of the suction pulling it onto the floor that makes it heavier to push.
Switching it off makes it far easier to move around. Okay, this knowledge doesn't make it any lighter on the arms but it makes me smile every time I use it. It has even pulled up carpet at the edges of the room where it wasn't securely fastened down. This bit made me grin, perhaps I should get out more.
If you're terribly unfit/weedy, this may be a consideration for electing another machine.
I wonder if Bosch designed this as an industrial unit and sold it to the public by mistake.
Another plus is that I can now get to the carpet under radiators thanks to the flatter, wider head on the Bosch. I had to use the crevice tool on the Dyson as the motor would catch on the radiators.
Even the length of the flex helps, it's about two feet longer than on my previous machine and now is just long enough to do living and dining rooms from the same socket.
Emptying the thing is a doddle, just pull the bucket off the machine and take it (in it's sealed state) to the bin where the bottom hinges open to let the dirt out. Gone are the windy days of going to the bin in a cloud of fine dust, sneezing all the way.
Downsides? Yes, there are a couple. The hose is not long enough to do the stairs and because the suction is so great, the hose pulls itself into it's shorter state and pulls the machine over quite often (this loses the Bosch 1 star)
Also, the cable return mechanism does just enough work to pull all the cable in at the moment. I suspect this may become 'tired' over time and not return the cable fully. Only time will tell. No loss of star here as this may not happen.
Overall, the Bosch is a real beast. A big thumbs up.
