Andy26's Review of Vodafone Mobile Phone Network

Overall Rating

1 stars
  • Value for money
    4 stars
  • Signal Coverage
    0 stars
  • Time with Network
    6 - 12 Months
Good Points

1) Cheap price plan.

Bad Points

1) Terrible reception in North London/Bedfordshire.
2) Arrogant and unhelpful call centre (will most likely ignore written complaints).

General Comments

I don't know whether it's the network or my phone (Sharp GX10i) but I have terrible reception in Bedfordshire. I complained to customer services in the first month and was told that my phone was fine and that there was good network reception in my area. When I replied that this was not the case (after getting cut-off midway and having to call again) I was told that there was nothing she could do and that we're were going around in circles. I tried complaining in writing but I had no response.

I do not live in a remote area and I had brilliant reception on One-2-One (aka the student network) for several years. Indeed, when my phone is struggling to show one bar, my mum who is on Orange has good reception.

If you live north of London then be wary of buying a Vodafone mobile. Vodafone do not deserve their reputation of having good network coverage.

    Hello!

Being in a populated area does not alway promise excellent reception, although you would think so!

The more popuated the area the more likely there will be service limitations from architecture. Dense buildings and land masses do affect reception.

However to be fair if a smaller network like T-Mobile is OK then I would sugest the mobile could be the problem, never accept from any customer service that the model of phone does not affect reception, they all have different strengths and weakness in different areas. It's not possible to know why but some people have good reception on certain phones in one area and bad in another.

Unfortunately, because mobile networks are so reliable, people forget, that they are completely wireless and open to so many variables they will never be guaranteed!
