ALL 13 OF US LOVED OUR STAY!
Please please please do not believe all the negative comments written by some travellers to Escape at Prospect Bay. Ok, so they are entitled to there own opinion and people do have bad experiences sometimes, but as a seasoned traveller to Barbados I can highly recommend the Escape Hotel. 13 may be an unlucky number for some people, but not for us - we loved it.

As with any hotel there are friendly and, should we say not so friendly, staff, but it's easy to work out who is and who isn't and who to avoid etc - the same as you would back home.

Yes, there were some occasions where things weren't quite as you wanted, but comment on it in an adult and PATIENT fashion and it gets dealt with.

Our party was split between the superior deluxe rooms in the main block (superb rooms, with a cracking sea view) and the spa rooms (again great rooms). Don't expect the Ritz when it comes to rooms, but do remember that it is Barbados and you only use them to sleep in and get ready to go out.

The Spa side of the hotel is great to catch the early sun and we tended to stay there until just after lunch, and then hit the beach to catch the sunset and get a drink at the rum shack.

The FREE water activities on the beach are also a bonus - snorkelling, kayaking, hobbies cat rides etc and you don't get too pestered by the locals - just be friendly and say no and they'll meander off. The FREE catamaran trip on the Thursday evening was also well worth booking.

The evenings at Escape were spent between the 2 restaurants. Seascape is good quality food with 5 nights being waitress service, one being a buffet and the other being a BBQ - very good food and we always enjoyed our meals. The Garden restaurants were superb, with lovely lovely food and very good service. YES, you have to book the restaurant you want to eat in, but NO it is not a pain as you can book for at least a week in advance.

The evening entertainment was basic, but what you made it - if you're prepared to get up and dance, then you'll enjoy it.

The After Hours bar is the place to go - on the Spa side of the hotel, open from 9pm - 1am (or a little later if you can twist Haydn and Wendell's arms!!), its air conditioned, there's a TV and a decent stereo.

Barbados is a chilled out laid back place and so are the people and that is the attitude you need to go with. Don't expect everything now, because it won't happen.

We would ALL definitely go back to this hotel and would recommend it to anybody travelling to Barbados as a good quality, well positioned, affordable hotel.
