Good Points

In the two weeks I have owned the recorder, I have been very pleased with the quality of recording I have received. I have already made several DVD and each one came out great. Learned from experience and each disk is probably better than the last. So much better than doing VHS.


Bad Points

Would have been nice for the salesperson at Sears to have recommended the type of DVD disks to buy that would offer the most capabilities. This being the RW type. The first thing I noticed is that my wife is going to be in a panic trying to use the remote. It is a bear! A lot of buttons and most of them aren't really marked to mean what they do. You need the owners book next to you at all times to ensure you are pushing the right buttons. The record and stop buttons for the DVD portion is too slow to react. To much time can elapse before it either starts or stops. Would like to see a black plate option for the front versus silver to mirror other devices.


General Comments

I was looking for a device to replace both the DVD and VHS system in the living room, plus a capability to download shows from my Satellite DVR device onto DVD. The Sansui VRDVD4005 has provided me this capability. Every use I am learning something new and it is starting to get easier to use after two weeks. At least I haven't threatened to throw the remote control against the wall yet!

    This person wrote the review before he owned this unit for any real length of time. I urge readers to consider my review (I have owned 3 of these units, and they all failed eventually).

    The problems with these units often times do not show up immediately, but over time.
