Good Points

A monitor difficult to fault perfect colour auto setup in 20 secounds good design and cables hidden at the back by a cover and the screen is just 1/4" smaller than my old 19" monitor.

Bad Points

There are no bad points - just things I don't like. The four buttons on the front - I would have liked a cover over them.

The area around these - I would have liked to see flush not half round which makes the case look bigger than what it is.

No usb connection.

General Comments

Never seen another monitor with such clear text and colour as the NEC LCD 1700NX and with auto set up it's great.

First one I received from the supplier had a fault damaged in transit I phoned NEC they said a replacement would be with me next day.

By 4pm nothing arrived so I phoned NEC someone had forgot to ship it out and it was too late to ship one for the next day delivery.

So NEC paid for a carrier to pick up a unit in Telford and drive all the way up to Northumberland to deliver it to me and it arrived 6 hours later.

Now that is sevice.

I've had the 1700NX for a couple of months now and display quailty is fantasic. It's native resolution of 1280x1024 is pin sharp through the DVI interface. The only complaint I have is the lack of a DVI cable in the box. None of my local computer stores had one and mail order was looking to be about £30. Finially I found a stall at a local computer market some 2 months later which had them for £12. Come on NEC, it would cost you a couple of £ to put one in the box.

I have just been to the store in Kitchener (Canada) and everything you asked for has been done to the 2005 model......NEC obviously take revierers seriousl. I look forward to some good NLE with this 19" baby.
