Extremely basic software, annoying menu system & predictive text entry, rather crude sounds
General Comments
I've never liked Motorolas, let's be honest about it. The only reason I've gone for this is because it was free and it was on a tariff that I liked. I should've spent that extra 50 quid on a Nokia now that I've thought about it. My main complaint is how basic and crude the software is. Compared to Nokias, the Motorola user interface is like in the stone age. It's also extremely unintuitive, it has too many layers to access the very basic of functions and you need to press too many buttons (ie: to read and reply to a text message, you have to press OK to accept an incoming message, press OK again to switch views so that the message is shown on the full screen, press OK again to bring up a menu to reply to the message after reading it, scroll down 4 menu items to select reply and press OK again; that's a total of 8 key presses as opposed to 3-4 on a Nokia). Not to mention the idiotic predictive text entry that can't remember a previously entered word. The ringtones and key tones are really really crude too. I mean only 11 tones? And what's with the stupid, depressing music tone? Didn't they have the same ringtones since the Startac back in 96? For God sake, 6 years on and they still have the exact same ringtones on a supposedly stylish mobile? On the plus point, it's quite a smart looking phone (though not exactly the most stylish or best looking around) and I love the flip (again, not the only one with the clamshell flip design), but a phone's no good looking great if it's annoying and using it gets my veins popping.
