General Comments

I bought the Philips DVD-630 player to play Divx files only and it has played almost every one so far. It has a problem with some Xvid files but a firmware upgrade will probably cure this. Philips have so far posted two firmware upgrades which has increased compatibility. A good player for the money.

This player is good. But one thing that one has to keep in mind is that if you have DVDs with multi-angle in them (e.g. Spririted Away), an ANGLE icon appears on screen and remains there throughout the duration of the multi-angle part of the film. If this happens to be the full 2 hours of the film, then the icon will remain on screen for 2 hours. And it's quite a large icon and very annoying. Philips so far does not seem interested in solving this problem regardless of the many emails sent to them and all that has been written on forums.
