General Comments

For anyone reading this review, I'd like you to know that the 9mm single shot is Phenomenal! I droped a deer at 110 yards - if that tells you anything! I love the looks, even though some would not agree. The only draw back is when you first get the gun you wont know when it is at it's peak power and that you'll enjoy it so much you'll wish you had more shots on a charge. To help you out I will let you know about the gun. First, do not fill with air! Only fill to about 185 bar. When you fill it to 204 bar, your first 2-3 shots are erratic and lower in power. But right around that 185 mark it is a beast!! You'll only have about 5 shots at that power level so set your scope during those shots at 50 yards. You simply can not miss anything up to 70 yards - you'll have to adjust for longer shots. People tried to get me to purchase the 909, and I also looked at the Quackenbush (which I still might get), but right now it would be difficult to beat the power and accuracy of the RWS 9mm. PS - I can shoot a 2x12 board at 50 yards, hit the bulls-eye and pass through the board - ha! $400 at Airgun Express to me is unbeatable.

How serious is the sound produced by this rifle? I have looked everywhere but cannot get any info on the approx. volume of a 9mm pellet discharging. What would you compare this sound to?

    thanks

you can compare the sound of the single shot career 9 mm to the sound of a firing shotgun. It's an enormous and impressive popping sound. Now the feeling of the muzzle report is different,
depending on the place where you shot the gun. If you shot it in a close neighborhood, the noise is frightening and hard to bear. Mind the police! On the contrary, I shoot the career on a hill surrounded by trees, the sound is less impressive over there but still very important.

You said do not fill with air, does that mean you must use CO2?

  • Blackserpent Rank: 2nd Lieutenant on 11th Jan 2005

    Response to Koloradokkids :

Read the comment carefully bro! It doesn't say that the career must be filled with CO2 but it says that the pressure that is mentioned on the pressure gauge should not EXCEED 185 bars. A max pressure doesn't allow the valve to open properly so when the gun is completely filled in, (more than 200 bars) it has LESS POWER than when pressure drops a bit (at around 185 bars). That said DON'T FILL THE CARREER OR ANY OTHER PCP WITH ANYTHING ELSE THAN AIR! THIS COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS. Ask the retailer or read the user's Manuel if you don't believe me. ERIC
