Good Points

Branch staff helpful, but unable to deal with existing remortgage negotation

General Comments

Having been an Abbey National customer for many years I acepted Abbey advice to change my existing Abbey margage to a capped rate, I could not lose. However, soon after Abbey brought in 'special rates' which undercut the standard variable rate leaving me stuck on an artificially high rate not what I understood would be the result of a capped rate mortgage. Abbey have refused to consider my requests to remortgage unless I pay more than £4,000 penalty. The tie in ends at the end of this year and I wont be staying with Abbey.
