Good Points

Size. Photo quality. Easy to Use.

Bad Points

The recurring SYSTEM ERROR. Pointless viewfinder (just more moving parts to break). All the Nikon software: leave it in the box.

General Comments

While the SYSTEM ERRORs do pop up at the most inconvenient times, I've always managed to fix them without opening the camera - a paintbrush and a little patience; the cause either a microscopic grain or piece of dust in the shutter, or the lens barrel, or possibly (but not probably) inside - there's an optical sensor on the lens motor shaft (a little propellor) that tells the camera's smarts that the motor has stalled, and pulls the plug on all functions. HOWEVER, like all of these things if it takes a knock, it's dead. I've opened it up and checked every plug connector I can find, all gears movements are still relatively free, and all the switches and buttons are functional. But when you turn it on, there is no sign of life whatsoever - no backlight on the display, no lens movement, nothing. Any ideas on what else it could be before I just chuck it?
