Good power and great accuracy, Good price in this category.
Stock is square and hard to carry in one hand, sights are useless on my example, and the gun would not function properly when delivered.
BSA TechStar - The hammer would not fall the same from shot to shot when delivered. After two fills, it would not fire at all about a third of the time when the hammer fell. The rear sight was cranked up a full five turns past the last of the click adjustments where it was free to rotate either way. That was still not high enough for a 25 yard sight in with Kodiaks. After following Compassaco's advise to fix the hammer problem, the gun has functioned flawlessly. The stock is square and so large that a one hand carry with a scope on the gun when in the woods is almost impossible for any time. The gun must be cradled for carry over longer distances. This is a major sin in a hunter class gun like this one.
The only two choices at this price level are the Techstar and the B50. Despite the problems, I believe the Techstar with BSA behind it is the better buy. It is highly accurate with the Kodiaks and powerful enough to drop squirrels at any range you can hit them at. If you get an example where the sights are usable, they are good enough for 35 yard squirrel hunting. It is loud.
If you have another 100$ to spend, there are better choices. If this level is where you are going to buy, then this is the best choice I think.
