Good Points

The odd funny phoenixesque moment.

Bad Points

Peter Kay said that acting is all about confidence, well what the hell has happened to Paddy's confidence.
Some of the jokes are border line racist.
Some of the jokes are masogonistic.
Its cliche ridden, the last episode? it ain't porridge

General Comments

What a bitter dissapointment 'Max & Paddy's Road to Nowhere' is. Is this some sort of subliminal gay fantasy voyage that Peter Kay had tucked away in the darker recesses of his mind. It seems only the slightest provocation is needed for Paddy to get his kit off. We then get five minutes of Max giving him strange furtive glances and lavacious praise about his sexual prowess with the ladies. The soap joke in the prison shower? c'mon thats so old Frank Carson wouldn't touch it. It tends to suggest to me that Kay was only one of many people who made Phoenix nights the show it was.

How dare you! How dare you! Are you a complete fool? Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere is excellent. It ain't perfect but it makes me and everyone that I know laugh. The soap joke in the showers? It's there because it's predictable. The rest of the show can't take the blame for what you think is one lame joke. Lighten up.

Sorry but I have to agree. I've travelled the country to see Peter Kay 'live' (AND Paddy McGuinness 'Bandwagon' tour) and was looking forward to Road to Nowhere so much.
What a disappointment. If it wasn't that these two are so well liked and respected, the show would be getting a hammering.
Predictable and often self-indulgent, there are only glimpses of the brilliance of Phoenix Nights.
It's stupid to feel let down by people who don't even know you exist, but that's exactly how I feel.
Sorry lads, I was hoping for so much more.

I was a bit disappointed but I still love it. It makes me laugh and that's all that matters. Peter Kay was trying something new. What would we have said if it was a carbon copy of Phoenix Nights (which, by the way, is the best EVER comedy!), plus you watch the first episodes of many classics and they are rubbish before they find their feet. I am still a huge Peter Kay fan. God bless him; British comedy needed a good kick up the backside! Look at all the other sitcoms brought out apart from Little Britain and The Office recently and I think you'll find Max and Paddy is of a very high standard. Maybe some people just dont get the joke, but as a Boltonian it will ding dang do for me.

How many comics do you know that can make you laugh without using profanities every other word? It is very refreshing and long live Kay, that is, Peter Kay. How many people can you sit down to watch with your parents and have a good laugh? Take it back boys, look what you could have won.

I sort of agree but think it's a bit harsh. The plots, jokes and character development are nowhere as good as Phoenix nights, but it still causes a bit of a giggle. It's still better than Dave Spiky's Dead Man Weds, but not as god as Peep Show (with the chap that played Ray Von in it). Not as good as some of the sitcoms out last year such as The Smoking room, but it's OK. Hope Spikey and Kay get together soon to write something as good as Phoenix Nights.
