We made it out alive.
Bad Points
Ill equipped. Horrible staffing. Baggage area couldn't fit the passengers, let alone the baggage. Parking lot was a joke. Do not...I repeat - DO NOT land at this airport until the new terminal is completed and has worked through it's bugs.
General Comments
When we landed at Amritsar International Airport , we were happy. Walked down the stairs and headed toward the building (terminal)...Entered the terminal. Then we had to get into lines for immigration. We witnessed "known" people being whisked out of line by what seemed like airport personnel or police. One man even refused to step over the line marking whether you're in or out because he seemed embarrassed by this special treatment....The rest of us waited patiently. Once we were through this tight area, we proceeded to an even tighter area which was 5 steps away and was apparently the baggage claim area. This area could not accomodate all the passengers safely. When the baggage started coming out, it was ridiculous. People had huge amounts of luggage and had to set them aside to await the rest of their luggage as is normal. Unfortunately, there was no room for this. To make it worse, the authorities were refusing to let people out without all their luggage. It seemed neverending. People finally started pushing a bit and getting angry. The authorities basically had to let us all out. Once we did get out, we realized that the cars were not only double parked..but triple, quadruple, etc......parked!!! An amazing experience. I will absolutely never fly in to this airport again! Shame on the airport authority and shame on Singapore Airlines for allowing their planes to land at this facility under these horrible conditions.

It is shame to call it an international airport. We flew from USA and were happy and excited to taste our first landing at our home state, but soon after we landed it all turned nothing but sour. Connections were running very strong during immigration process which is usual in this country. The staff was very rude and corrupt. The facility was like a cow shed which was giving very bad impression about golden city. It is shame for State as well as central government to even call it an international airport unless they have not seen any international airports around the world.
