Exceptional build quality, reasonably priced, excellent spares back-up, powerful, good ergonomics, safety switch.
Violent "kick" on starting.
The Makita 9069 230mm 2000w is a genuine professional power tool, aimed at the construction/fabrication industry.
It has a 2000w motor, with dust-sealed bearings to ensure long service, with the brushes placed at opposite sides of the motor housing for easy replacement. This grinder is not really aimed at the average DIY'er, because it is an unforgiving machine with no gimmicks or frills, such as soft-start.
It is supplied with instructions, flanges and blade-changing key, as well as a multi-position side handle. Other accessories are available from the manufacturer.
The 9069 is quite loud in operation, and suffers badly from the gyroscopic effect of large grinders. This is particularly noticeable when starting the machine, which immediately screams up to operating speed (6600rpm) with a violent kick to the user.
All in all a well-made tool, but think twice about purchasing if just for occasional use.
Average cost is around £80.00, and stocked by most DIY shops/tool factors.
Similar machines are available for around the same price, but the 9069 really is the industry standard 9" grinder.230mm 2000w
