Small, lens retracts without need for a cap, short shutter lag.
Both you and subject have to be rock steady. Some graininess in images.
We have had a Sony CyberShot DSC-P12 for almost a year now, using it to take mostly 'snapshots' of the children. I chose it because of the good reviews, and small shutter lag, plus the 5.0 mp. To be honest, we have found this camera to be a disappointment. To take a decent photograph both you and your subject have to be rock steady. The slightest movement, and the image comes out blurred. This can be slightly reduced by setting the 'speed' of the camera to ASA 400. Also, the images tend to come out a little grainy.
Unfortunately, when trying to take that 'treasured' shot of a child, you have to be quick. More often as not the child is moving, and in your haste you have a slight (quite normal) movement. The result is a rubbish photo.
In contrast I have a Nikon 880, 3.4 mp camera. This has no problems with the children moving, or the slight amount of movement by the photographer.
When everything is rock steady, this camera does take superb photos.
