General Comments
For gods sake, no matter how good the deal is, do not use Singlepoint, and advise everyone you know against them.
Took me two months to receive phone. Apparently it had been stolen from the delivery depot. Customer services didn't want to know, and were rude and patronising. Almost as if they didn't believe me. And charged me line rental for the two months I didn't have the damn phone.
I've had a whole catalogue of problems with Singlepoint. The company appears to have no morals and are, in my opinion frankly, cowboys ruining Vodafnes name.
Most recently, I got a bill in excess of £100. Why? I had been to the Czech Republic and been charged over £1 each time the call went to receipients voicemail. 1 second phone call = £1. Phoned customer service again and was told it was my fault I had not checked. I thought it was per second billing? None the less, fair enough, but no need for the aggro I got from them AGAIN.

on 22nd Nov 2004The rate you are charged is charged via the mobile network you use to roam on whilst abroad and dependant on the exchange rate at the time Vodafone are then billed. Vodafone then passes your bill onto Singlepoint who bill you. They aren't trying to rip you off it's just a fact international calls of ANY nature are expensive. Vodafone have a monthly/temporary option for £ 2-50 per month that gives you UP TO 60% discount on international calls when abroad. They also segment countries across the globe into different zones so popular destinations like France, Spain etc are Gold zones i.e. Cheapest call rates etc. When going abroad call your provider and check on the call cost OR buy a Pay As You Go SIM and use that abroad. Hope this helps.

on 23rd Nov 2004As I stated, "fair enough" if that's the case with international call rates- my issue lies with the fact that their customer services just arent interested no matter what the issue is and just wanted me off the phone line.
And it was 2 months to receive the handset- the database you refer to stated that they had attempted delivery twice and this simply wasnt the case. After pushing the subject with the delivery company it turned out the phone had been stolen. Singlepoint took a further two weeks to get a replacement phone to the depot and when I finally received it they had forgotten the sim card.
Whether or not you believe me is of no interest or consequence to me. The service I received from Singlepoint was shocking and I am factually stating what I have experienced in the hope of disuading other consumers from purchasing from this company due to the continuous dissatisfaction, which to me seems inevitable. I do not usually complain about any company, goods or services I receive, but this company is a joke. Once they've got your money and signed you into a contract then that's it as far as they are concerned.Russellyeah
on 23rd Nov 2004Thank you redrider1za, helpful. I believe pay as you go is the only real option for the occasional (once or twice a year) traveller like myself. Having looked into what you have stated it still seems a bit difficult to really keep track of call costs.

on 8th Dec 2004Well "russellyeah" I work for Singlepoint and clearly we are not mind readers...did you call us to ask how much it would cost to use your phone abroad???
Clearly not!Russellyeah
on 13th Dec 2004Let me refer to my last comment- "As I stated, "fair enough" if that's the case with international call rates- my issue lies with the fact that their customer services just aren't interested no matter what the issue is and just wanted me off the phone line."
Not mind readers? Acceptable. Not being able to read? Well it's the kind of thing I've come to expect from your company. Sarcasm as well- bet you fit right in.stephtaylor79
on 13th Dec 2004Kerrismith - You really didn't need to state that you were an employee of Singlepoint. The tone of your comment says it all!

on 14th Dec 2004Amazing isn't? Look at ALL these negative comments and instead of putting things right they STILL don't get it and behave in an arrogrant (with no basis for it), and unprofessional manner. Try thinking why you've managed to achieve all these negative comments, we're all potential/existing customers with no axe to grind apart from being treated well for the money we pay you Singlepoint.
RookieNM
on 14th Dec 2004well sorry Stephen they are correct, most contracts are taken via independent retailers who only want your signature, they never explain the terms and conditions which if read would resolve probably 50% of the reviews on this site, we get left to fix the mess and no matter what happens 90% of the issues on here have actually been resolved by Singlepoint.
RookieNM
on 15th Dec 2004Like I said things would have been put right if customers simply read facts, not intended to be offensive but in this case it is true, go abroad and pay for calls per minute with pretty huge call charges, call us up SP will happily let you know this and advise you on any way possible that SP know will lower the costs for you, offering international option, advising to turn off voicemail, delivery reports stuff like this, SP don't want unhappy customers and sometimes mistakes are made, but always fixed.

on 16th Dec 2004I have only made what could been seen as offensive responses, I did not make an offensive comment to start. And anything offensive I may have written is only in response to an offensive message against me. I came on this website to share my dire experience in the hope of dissuading others. I did not expect to receive further annoying communication with SP staff!
As the keen observer has mentioned above, there are currently 354 separate comments made with an average user rating of 1.6. If SP really are as good as you are trying to make out then why have so many consumers come on here to complain about SP? Are we all liars? Time wasters? I think not. SP has received more negative feedback by a mile than any other mobile shop on here (at least as far as I can see) and not with out good reason.RookieNM
on 17th Dec 2004354 out of 2 million is not that many people in my opinion and again I am not disputing the fact that singlepoint WERE a bad company but if you notice the 4U part in the name that will explain why, we are no longer part if this company and hope to prove that.
kerrismith
on 17th Dec 2004Ok I can see where you are coming from but after looking through all of the negative comments it has become clear to me that over half of these complaints are about phones 4u, who are no longer part of singlepoint...I apologise if you took my comment offensively but i cannot stress enough that we do only have our customers best interests at heart.
this is why vodafone are now taking on our customer service advisors and our policies, the reason they gave is because our advisors provide better customer service than their own.keen observer
on 17th Dec 2004Where do you people get these comments from?? I'd like to see evidence about Vodafone 'adapting' singlepoint practises, hardly likely. Vodafone have been around since the brick phones, called talkland before.. I hardly think they need to adopt singlepoint's bad habits. It's possible they wanted extra market share but that's about it. If you're going to make 'factual' comments, back them up with evidence otherwise they are just hollow words.
RookieNM
on 21st Dec 2004Give you factual evidence? The same could be said for every topic on this site, people are here to give an opinion nothing more, as for evidence this would not be available to you, the methods adapted are vodafone customer care management based, and again run a searh on TRIM scores complaints anything else you can think off that show service providers compared, you might be surprised at the results...

on 22nd Dec 2004You're trying to give more than an opinion or an experience as people give here. You're attempting to give constant statistics which is a very different thing. You obviously work in the industry so are biased, whereas we are not. Your commet about 354 out of 2 million customers comment is meaningless. As I'm sure not every unsatisfied customer bothers to put their comments on this website, even you I'm sure can realise that. The views of people here are real life experiences. If you are that conceintious about the company you work for I would be willing to go with you to a SP store or hold a telephone conversation with SP and let you see the kind of disgusting behaviour they display. I doubt you would take me up on it. THAT would be the real world test, rather than text book marketing figures. Although I have better things to do before you say it, this is how strongly I feel on this topic. That's how angry SP has made me feel in the past....

on 22nd Dec 2004By the way, its 356 now and rising ;-)

Russellyeah...you have really hit the nail on the head with your review on SP. I was with them once and can happily say that I will never go back to those, what I consider, rude, obnoxious bunch of cowboys again. The staff and call centres were obviously trained to a bare minimum, and their manners leave a lot to be desired, as is proved by the numerous comments that SP employees have made here.

on 2nd Apr 2005Just for the record, singlepoint don't have any stores, they are purely telephone based.Tthe stores you are referring to are Phones 4 U who admittedly used to be part of the same group (Caudwell) but no longer have anything to do with singlepoint.

International call rates are offered to customers upon the bar being lifted, 2 months for your handset I do not believe, the parcel ref numbers will still be stored on singlepoints database, available for you to track on business express or city links website, would be useful to see copied over and pasted for reference.
