Good Points

Huge array of tones available all easily selected from the easy to use and intuitive, well-made controls.

Bad Points

Don't expect this guitar to be a replacement for your Vintage Strat or Gretch, the sounds it creates are good approximations of those styles of instruments but it doesn't have the depth of sound of the originals. Some of the patches sound very synthetic. Bland looks.

General Comments

Line6 Variax 500 - The Variax 500 doesn't do exactly what it says on the tin, but it does do a worthwhile job. If you want to have a massive guitar collection available to you at the flick of a switch, then this is the one to buy. As I already own a Fender Strat and have played a Telecaster on numerous occasions, these two sets of patches were the ones I can best comment on. Yes they do sound Fender Strat...ish or Telcasteresque but they are obviously not the real thing. But then on the other hand I can't play my Strat and flick one switch and instantly transform it into a Gibson Acoustic or even a Sitar! In terms of quality, it's a well-built, Korean-made guitar. The knobs and tuners are good quality, but it's really let down by it's looks though, which are very bland, but a custom paint job might sort that out.
