Very poor maid service
Poor breakfast, lack of attention to customers requests

General Comments

Derwent Lodge Country Hotel is a pleasant hotel situated between Cockermouth and Keswick in the village of Embleton. Not much to do in the village though the local pub is but a few steps away. Obviously new staff here, mainly foreign and standard of bed making, room re appointment and general maid service was dreadful. A complaint actually resulted in one of the girls being admonished whilst we were left waiting outside the room. Embarrassing stuff and very unprofessional. Evening meal on the first of our three night stay was reasonable, however the chef must have been off duty that night because it has to be said that the following (Fri Sat) nights the standard was much much higher. Waiting staff inexperienced so one wouldn't be awarding any trophies for service.
