General Comments

I've had my Honda Civic 2.0 Type R Sports Car for two years now,the first 18 months were fantastic, the car was amazing, having never had a sporty car before it didn't take much to impress though. the car was fast but once i got out of the honeymoon period I started to wish i'd splashed out on aircon a £1000 extra (a must if your thinking of buying one.) It gets very hot in there. After 18 months the passenger side suspension arm went. In the garage for two days. Two weeks later took it in for a service to a different garage they said both suspension arms were gone. In garage for three days. To add to my despair I got the car back only to notice a knocking on the steering took it back to garage only to be told there was nothing wrong. After two weeks of me moaning they realised the steering rack had gone (a common fault on all civics) the brand new one they fitted was also faulty - car in garage for 1 week. Next thing I noticed was when I was pulling up at a junction or traffic lights the revs would drop below 500rpm nearly stall but just kick back up before it did stall. After taking it to different garages and being told there was nothing wrong with it. Its never got fixed and i'm just going to have to live with it. But there is something not right. After all my moaning i've still got my civic and love it dearly and can't see me getting a replacement soon. The sound of the v-tec is just so addictive.

Which dealers did you go to?

This might be the IDLE CONTROL VALVE its a known issue i read on type r owners forum
It normally does it once car is warmed up, it normally just needs adjusting
Take it to a garage/dealer and get them to check this
Hope i have helped in some way.
