Bad Points

Reliability - numerous electrical failures

General Comments

I bought my first Peugeot Elystar 150 Scooter two years ago when they first came out. It broke down or wouldn't start four times in the first 5 months. The problems were electrical, with the 'K' light coming on (this was fixed with a recall) and the battery warning light coming on (this still happens and can't be fixed!). Another recall apparently was to waterproof the ECU which is situated above the rear wheel and gets soaked in wet weather. After several starts, the starter motor also will not engage. I was so fed up I got the garage to replace my Elystar with another one. This gave about 14 months trouble free motoring and I was enjoying its good points - I used it every day for work. Unfortunately some of the problems have re-appeared. The battery light still comes on at idle, it has stalled twice this week at a junction and the second time refused to start. It's now back at the garage. I am now looking for a Piaggio or Honda 250!
