General Comments

Our first visit to Lanzarote was to Costa Teguise and the Celeste Apartments. Since then we have returned twice to Lanzarote, but the mistake we made was not booking the Celeste. I had this bright idea of trying any other place because we liked Teguise anyway. Big mistake. Then on the next visit I thought I would try another location nearer Playa del Carmen, Matagorda. It was o.k. but not a patch on Teguise and the Celeste Apartments. I came on line tonight 11.11.04 to try to book the Celeste but another commentator says you cannot book direct which is a bummer. However I will phone the apartments to ask who the operator is, as I don't recall. The apartments are (like a lot of Spanish apartments) fairly basic but are nicely built and laid out looking over the pool with ample balcony space and access to shops and pubs. This is the only time in my life that I have gone back to the same place twice and now three times. Costa Teguise is and Lanzarote itself is not for the 18 to 30 crowd. It is ideally suited to couples of any age and young children, the food is good and reasonably priced, there are nice shops and decent gear and no hassle from the shop keepers or the few street vendors. The markets are interesting and have what I like - the opportunity to buy fake Rolex's and Gucci stuff. The sellers of course start of with daft prices like £40 for a watch and then will sell for a tenner. Hope this helps. Linda
