Bad customer service, left arm hasn't got a clue what the right is doing, rude customer service staff, a very poorly run company in my opinion.

General Comments

In October 2002 a canvasser for the Powergen Electricity Providor knocked at my door, after a lengthy discussion myself and my husband signed up for Gas & Electricity. Which was the worst mistake we have ever made. After receiving a bill in November for both services we paid it and thought nothing more of it. Then in the following January I received a bill from our previous suppliers British Gas for a bill over £100, so I contacted them straight away and explained I was no longer their customer to which they said we were and gave me a number for transco who would be able to tell me my meter supply number and who was supplying me. When I called them they confirmed that British Gas were still in fact supplying me. I immediately contacted Powergen to find out what was going on. I was told they would investigate and call me back, this they never did. After numerous phone calls I was told that the supply number I was being charged for belonged to someone at the top of my street! They assured me this would be sorted out. I made numerous phone calls and wrote letters and I still got nowhere. Then on 5th november 2003 (I remember the date because it was bonfire night) from a really stroppy customer services lady who told me I had a bill outstanding for £568.00 (argh I picked myself up from the floor) so I explained the the whole situation and if she could send me a bill with details on I would happily pay it. Didnt receive one. Then it was one day over the Christmas holidays I had another stroppy call from a gentleman I could bearly understand who said he would also get me a bill sent out. After a few hours sat stewing over this call I thought enough is enough I rang again and insisted I spoke to a manager which I did who also promised me that he would look at my account, sort it out and ring me back the next day - Guess what he never did. So I got in touch with British Gas and asked them to take me back as their customer for Gas & Electric which they did. I then got a final bill from Powergen for just under £1000.00 which is a joke and probably someone on the next street. I called them again to say i dont have £1000.00 laying about and we would have to come to some arrangement due to the fact it was their fault as a company that I now had debt. I arranged an amount with a very nice gentleman on the phone and he said that as I wasnt their customer anymore they would have to send me a payment card which he didnt send so I rang again a month later and requested that they sent me one. To this day (4th November 2004) I still havent received a card and I have given up if they decide to send one I will pay and if they dont well thats fine by me. Wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy!!
