General Comments

I installed this Acumen 902 motorcycle alarm on a Triumph Sprint. Installation was straightforward. The unit is self-contained, and appears well-made and solid. Because this bike has a cooling fan that can run after the ignition has been switched off I had to disable the 'hot-wire' sensor on the alarm.

The alarm has adjustable sensitivity. With the sensitivity set to 'most sensitive' I tested the alarm. I was able to unlock the bike, take it off the stand and push it up the drive without triggering the alarm. I could even start the bike and ride off. I reckon a mate and I could even have lifted it into a van without the alarm sounding.

I contacted the manuacturer for their comments, and they confirm that this is to be expected!! The alarm is a 'shock sensor' and will only trigger if the alarm is shocked or jarred. I did try to trigger the alarm this way, and it needs a significant jolt to the bike to trigger the alarm.

I have removed this piece of junk and obtained a refund.
