Rugged and dependable (can still be used with dead batteries!), an honest piece of equipment. Great for teaching basic photographic principles.
No longer made! Heavy (compared to newer cameras) and not as full featured as more expensive units.
A fabulous "learner" or entry level camera that has been a dependable partner for (can it be) 25 years! It has had 0 problems or breakdowns, which cannot be said for later Pentax products I've owned... Will be used to teach the kids the basics of photography in a few years. Not many consumer products can be expected to perform as well, and for as long, as my K1000 (SE).
