Very useful and helpful book for anyone thinking (or dreaming) of moving out of London or Greater London.
General Comments
Dennis Watts, Escape from London - This book got an excellent review from the Daily Mail property correspondent, Nigel Lewis. He described it as 'taking the slog out of finding a rural idyll within reach of London. Dennis Watts has pinpointed the rural retreats in which many Londoners dream of living, researched their house prices, surroundings and how long it takes to to get into central London'.
The first part of the book gives thorough and very important advice on topics such as finding good schools, judging an area for quality of life, types of country property and the process of narrowing down the best choices for particular people. The second, longer, part of the book goes into much detail on 700 villages and country towns within easy reach of London. Interesting anecdotes are included to make it an entertaining read in its own right.
