Good Points

Resort of Half Timeshare and Half sole owners villas in Playa Blanca. Well maintained. Good facilities in bungalows. Excellent staff in office, very helpful

Bad Points

Dreadful, extremely noisy "entertainment" from bar in the evening. Very off putting indeed.

General Comments

I own a fortnight in one of the two bed timeshared bungalows and apart from the sole bad point mentioned above, I have nothing bad to say about Las Brisas. As one of the oldest developments in Playa Blanca (18 or 19 years old) it still looks as fresh as the day it was built - only the plants have grown a bit!!) The office staff are helpful and the housekeeping staff good as well.
mercifully inflatable are only allowed in the pool for two clearly defined hours a day and you are specifically not allowed to "reserve" sunbeds, there is an ample sufficiency of beds for EVERYONE, they are never ever all full. It is ridiculous to see grown men and women huddling on a sunbed at 8am (sun's not even up then) clutching a morning fruit juice that someone has brought them from the bungalow)...

My recommendation is don't eat in the bar on site, get out and try the island's many restaurants, and Tapas bars - the ones on the Playa Blanca harbour and beach front are OK but nothing special. Chinese? can get that at home any time, Mexican? likewise. Steak house - ditto.

Hire a car or you'll be stranded in Playa Blanca unless you use the local buses.
Despite the hype, the Papagayo beaches are nothing special and not worth the paltry 3 euros they charge for access. I won't tell you my favourite places - find your own! :-)) The landscape may be "barren" but it varies amazingly from side to side and end to end of the island, and has a beauty all of its own.

I love the island but have seen the tourist industry grow from around 250,000 per annum to over 1.5m - Thankfully most of them seem to prefer to stay in Puerto del Carmen and Costa Teguise and not explore further than the nearest bar or fish n chip shop.....oh well, that's good. fewer people to spoil my enjoyment of this unique, vital and absorbing island and people.
