Toshiba SM30-107 - Does anyone know how to configure/setup a wireless connection in a Toshiba SM30-107 Laptop using its own wireless modem.

I've loaded Wanadoo's modem, USB connected to broadband OK but cannot be seen to follow and configure the Laptop as 802.1x wireless networking. Hardware Radio Switch is on.

Wanadoo don't don't seem too clued up and takes ages to contact them. Basic info in their leaflet to customers.

Does anyone have any step by step ideas how to do this?

   I would imagine that Wanadoo will be less than helpful as they will only support their own hardware.
   It sounds to me like you're trying to connect a USB modem to your laptop's inbuilt wireless network adapter. This is similar to a network card, it's not a wireless modem. (I don't think such a thing exists).
   
   If you have a Livebox from Orange you need a SpeedTouch 121g wireless adapter to connect it to your laptop. I don't think any other devices will connect easily as it's all tied into the same package (but I could be wrong).

   Generally, an ADSL router should be able to do the job of the Livebox. I don't know if this works with Orange, but it would mean that you won't have to have that hideous device dangling from your laptop all the time.
   You could try an ADSL wireless modem router, but you'll have to check with Wanadoo that this is compatible (they might use DSL instead).
   
   Netgear have some nice and reliable equipment.

   Personally I'd recommend ditching Wanadoo and getting BT broadband with a nice wireless hub.

   This should work with your laptop wireless without the SpeedTouch adapter.
   
   You will need to check the wireless security settings on any router that you get to allow your laptop to connect. The CD that comes with the router should guide you through the process.
