Good Points

Easy to sight, nice stock fit, works well with sling attachment, fun to shoot


Bad Points

Sights somewhat hazy (not too much), price


General Comments

The Daisy Avanti 853 Legend is an excellent little air rifle. I have been shooting all sorts of guns and air rifles for much of my life, but I was first introduced to the 853 when I made the final cut for the local JROTC rifle team last month. It's simply a joy to shoot, and I have never been much of an airgun fan. A brand new one will be somewhat pricey, but if you are interested in 10 meter/33 foot competition or you just want a quality shooter to start with, this rifle would be a good purchase. For the aforementioned reasons I recommend a used one. The 853 could be used for pest control if needed, however, if that is going to be your primary purpose, get an air rifle or .22 LR built for it. Don't use the fine china for the barbecue.
