General Comments

When Friends ended, I watched repeats. When Will & Grace started up again, I was curious. With Green Wing I was utterly fascinated, but only after I'd seen it. I expected the worst, was bored, and watched it probably because the remote control wasn't working. The little ads were funny and heightened the appetite, but I certainly wasn't expecting this clever, sidesplitting, no doubt spine-cracking masterpiece. Each alluring actor and actress had their own brilliant moments only to bundle them all together to make one fifty-minute moment that began in inquisitiveness and ended in a grin that won't go away.

The characters and their links together weren't obvious to begin with, but were creations that didn't need to be obvious - they deserved viewers that tried to figure them out. The random character designs that sprawled themselves about the place were not only handsomely-done but no doubt a breakthrough in what >you< think humour is.

Humour isn't evident jokes ending in an appreciative chuckle; it isn't a silly, hyperactive idiot prancing around in a monkey costume; it isn't a string of sex jokes and filthy puns. Humour varies from person to person, and from what I've found, no one can agree on what humour really "is". But by watching Green Wing I've easily discovered that you don't need common humorous grounds with the rest of the viewers, because they're probably just experimenting with "the rubbish one sees on television nowadays".

Actually, Green Wing isn't so much humorous as it is... precious. Don't break it.

I absolutely agree with you! I adore Green wing, it consistently has me in a crumpled ball laughing because it is so innovative and original. It annoys me that people compare it to Smack the Pony or Scrubs because it is not intended to be the same as either of these, so saying it isn't as good is a ridiculous comment, because it's so incredibly different! Anyway, good review *thumbs up!* :)
