Design defect in water hose leading to water filter

General Comments

Maytag MFD2560HES - Beware of the Maytag French Door refrigerator.
The hose built in to the refrigerator that runs up the back of the refrigerator from the external water source connector to the water filter is prone to be nicked or cut in transport. This hose has a bit of slack in it at the bottom of the refrigerator. If you push that slack against the refrigerator, it goes right on top of a hex nut screw. The wooden frame that is used to secure the refrigerator to its box during transport and storage presses that hose on top of that screw.

In our case, the hose developed a pinhole leak in that worn spot a few hours after being pressurized with water. The leak runined our oak flooring in the kitchen and the carpet in the adjacent dining room. Now we are having to deal with Maytag customer service for repairs. Not fun.

Since the model is new, replacement parts are not yet available so the refrigerator still has not been fixed (it has been 7 weeks now). The home improvement store we purchased it from delivered us a new one, but the hose on it had the same problem. In addition, the model sitting in the home improvement store's showroom also has a damaged hose.

Although we like the layout of the refrigerator, we are about ready to return it and get our >money back due to our deailings with Maytag. The home improvement store has said they will do that to keep us "happy" and we appreciate that. BUT, for Maytag to process our damage claim, I must submit the damaged hose to them. So, I need to keep the refrigerator until it is unfortunately "fixed".
