Bad Points

Badly trained information staff in Focus High Wycombe
Very unflexible in relation to discount scheme


General Comments

Focus DIY - Yesterday we were planning to purchase £800-1000 materials (tiles, etc.) since we had just moved home. When I went to the information desk and asked about the 10% discount scheme, the girl at the information desk had no idea what I was talking about.
She got a colleague who called another one who then found the brochure that had been within the girl's reach all the time.
The store did not have enough of the materials available that we wanted to purchase so we needed to put in an order. When I asked her to put in the order the girl at the information desk had again no idea what "putting in an order" was, let alone how to do it.
When help was found, yet again, and I explained that I wanted to put the order in and then to come the next day to buy it with the discount (and bring the paperwork in to qualify for the discount) I was told that they would not take the order at the discount price if they had not yet seen the paperwork.
You will probably not be surprised that we were back in our car 1 minute later and will now find another way to purchase our materials.

    I work at Focus in Bromley and i would just like to let you know that not all of the information desk staff are so poorly trained. What you may have encountered there was just a new member of staff being trained or a member of staff who had not yet been on the desk before. I am an information desk operator and can fully understand why you would look elsewhere for your materials but I would not like you to be put off from the store itself altogether. I am sorry on behalf of Focus Wickes DIY group and hope that in the future you do not encounter this problem again.
    One last thing, the 10% Homemovers discount you are refering to, the desk should have charged you the full amount and then the next day refunded the 10% discount back to you. Sorry again.
