General Comments

Jimmy White's Cueball World - Having purchased Cueball World from my local software shop for a grand total of £2.00, I thought I didn't have much to lose, so, after some initial loading problems I eventually played my first game of Cueball World. And very surprised I was at what I found. A very good simulation of snooker and pool, having played the World Championship Snooker series, I knew my stuff, and I know that Cueball World is an excellent simulation of the green baize.
The irony of all this is that Cueball World is not a great snooker sim. The game doesn't seem to flow as well as the World Championship snooker titles. Pool is good fun though, and it is in this game mode where most of the fun lies. US and UK 8, and 9 ball pool are all accessable as well as some mini as well, darts being the best.
Real stars are sadly missed hovever, floating hands are employed instead. This isn't as bad as it sounds, as the hands add a real sense of character to the game that World Championship Snooker lacked. There are also plenty of new tables to unlock, from desert islands to Stonehenge, and all are rendered with plenty of attention to detail and depth.
Gameplay wise Cueball World is hard to surpass. Spin can be added far more easily than in World Championship Snooker, although the potting line could have been better.
Overall this is perfect post-pub gaming with mates, but solo players will enjoy it too. :-)
