Mike Lawrence, "Which?" Book of Wiring and Lighting - This is an excellent book. I had never done any electrical work prior to reading this book, but once I read the book I was able to completely re-wire my house (less the changing meter tails to the new consumer unit). Thanks to this book I saved a fortune wiring the house, which I did without any problems thank to this guide. An absolute bargain compared to the price of a re-wire.
