Loyal, fun, loving, and bags of character. Excellent with children, other dogs and animals - thinks that EVERYTHING is a game!!
Strongwilled - so need to be trained well and early.
Chocolate Labradors have got to be the best dogs you can get! They are typically laid back like most labs, but no matter how well trained they are you can never be quite sure who has the upper hand.
Our old Gun dog Rusty was highly trained but still an excellent family dog who we loved dearly until he passed away aged 12 years (a good age for a pedigree). Now we have Benson aged two - from marriage break up, so house broken when we got him. Really does think he is a jack russell or the like as always on someones knee (considering his size this always makes things interesting!). Good House dog (loves sleeping on sofa!) but needs his excercise regularly, and can be fussy eater. Loves water so you need to be a bit careful as they have no fear.
A big bonus with the breed is that they are excellent with other dogs and will put up with any amount of petting etc from people inc children. You have to watch other peoples dogs though as labs will let themselves be bullied, and can't grasp that not everyone wants to play.
He makes us laugh everyday and we would never doubt that they are the best breed in the world!!
