Big John Sheffield's Review of Daystate Harrier X

A classy hunting gun. The 10 shot magazine is ample really.
Bad Points
One trivial point is that the stickers on the side of the gun are slightly 'tacky'. I have had three new 'O' rings on the breach bolt already and have only had the gun a year.
General Comments
I owned a Daysate PH6. The accuracy was superb. I also own a stealth and the accuracy on this is also very good. I have previously owned an Air Arms 310, which I felt was 'jinxed' so have now got a Daystate Harrier X in 22 calibre, 40ft lb. I have had to send it back to the manufacturer 3/4 times now due to inaccuracy, magazine fault, (hence 'O' rings breaking). I am currently using Bisley Magnums 5.5, have tried Heeley Magnums 5.5. I love the gun even though I have had problems with it, e.g. power curve. Can any one recommend any other pellets? Someone suggested 5.52 Day States's. Has anyone else had similar problems (could it be with it being 40ft lb?). I would like to get it more accurate. Any advice on pellet types would be appreciated.

on 16th Nov 2004I have now tried both these pellets and yes they are good.
I found Lazadome brilliant - Tried them out at 45-50 yds and they were superbly accurate. I thought with my gun being 40ft/lb (fire arms) that they may have distorted at this poundage, but it wasn't too bad.
I am also going to try Daystate Field 5.52 pellets.
Thanks for your comments, they were really helpful.
I would be interested to hear any comments you have on your gun.

on 30th Nov 2004hi again , I'm glad the lazerdomes worked ,i know your daystate is running very high power and you said that there was a power curve problem. I've heard of this before in daystates, but you might a get a regulator for them. In fact, so it might help, ask daystate because it might be a retro fit item for you gun. The new harrier x2 can be bought as regulated or non regulated, hope this helps.

Try lazer dome pellets, or air arms field, those two are the best, I've tried loads and always come back to them.
