Great performance and with the optional CATS (std on XKR) superb handling, what a beautiful looking car too. Rag top. The biggest boot in class it must be.
Bad Points
Only available as an automatic and not a great automatic either, mine failed at 90,000 miles. Needs manual fitting of hood cover when roof is put down which rather defeats the electric hood. Windscreen wipers are mounted too high at rest and as a consequence the driver can only admire the fantastic lines of the bonnet when it raining! Choose your dealer well some of them are just not up to it and they all charge like a raging bull. Actually that's not fair, it's the parts that really cost that's why I stay with an official franchise.
General Comments
I love this Jaguar XK8 Convertible car it just makes me smile whenever I look at it and once on board the smile just gets bigger as we head for the next series of bends. Maybe it's not in 911 league but it would take a pretty enthusiasic driver to loose me! The image is perfect too. I am constantly let out of junctions (never happened in the BMW!) and folk, young and old, approach you in the car park and comment on how great the car looks (never had that with a porche). There are a few silly niggles (see above) but all in all Jaguar have created another classic, dare I say to rival the E Type. Shame the later cars have deeper seats so turning the usable rear seats into a parcel shelf.
My next car?
It'll have to be an XKR or if I can wait we'll see what Ford do with the new XK replacement but I doubt they will better the XK series.
