Take you up there with no credit in place despite promises, untrustworthy and abusive staff.
From what I've read I've had a lucky escape, I applied to the Car Credit UK car supermarket through the web and had a phone call from their Walsall branch, after giving all my details an appointment was made for the following Monday, on Saturday I had a phone call saying the credit was there but the 'special rates' could only be promised for that weekend so could I get up there.
We travelled up after double checking which documents were needed, on arrival the sales yard was my first warning, old rusty signs and scruffy but I thought maybe they had just took it over.
My wife luckily stayed with the car, whilst I went round to the back office where I handed my documents over, the salesman vanished off and after a long wait returned and helpfully asked what type of car I needed etc and saying they would take my car as trade in and vanished with my documents. Yet another wait of 20 mins before he came back telling my maximum repayments they would allow a week, and asking what I could afford, after me setting my limit, he left only to return after yet another delay to cross question me to see if I possibly had more income. Unknown to myself he had at the same time been to my wife cross questioning her.
He then vanished again, I assume with what I was to learn later that I was meant to think they were desperatly trying to help me, in fact what he had actually done was gone and just sat around in the office doing nothing, no wonder he wanted my wife away from the car where she had a clear view of the front office. The cars in the forecourt had no prices and obviouslly when he returned I assumed he would have worked out which car I could afford but no more delays. By now 3 hrs had passed, my baby was crying and my documents had vanished. The delays actually had instead of making me think they were working for me, made both my wife and myself more suspicious, my wife phoned my mobile and said lets go. I then went round to the front office and walked in, well the staff seemed to go into shock at a customer entering their inner sanctum and I was hurried out by a young female salesman. With my daughters crys now filling the forecourt I explained that I couldnt wait any longer and I needed to see the salesman and retreive my documents and leave, well that was easier said than done, after standing there for 20 minutes and no sign of documents I lifted my mobile to my ear and magically out popped our salesman complete with another member of staff asking what the matter was, I explained calmly that we had explained about bringing the baby and he had said we'd be driving home in 2hrs with our car, the answer 'well how long did you think it would take.' I then said that I'd forget it and wanted my documents well another 10mins and another show of the phone and my documents appeared with the comment 'thanks for wasting my time' Well I thought thats the end of that and a lucky escape but no the next morning the phone rang and a female salesperson on the line, well I was just about to go on a 300 mile round trip journey so asked for her to phone the next day, well thats today and up to now no call thankfully. I know they help people with poor credit but we're the customers and a bit of customer service would be nice. Also the apr rates where never mentioned, what was said was that after 2 years the car was paid for and the other 2 years would be spent paying the interest so after the first 2 years it was time to trade it in for a newer model, so are we paying double the cost or is it my bad maths. If you do want to see the Walsall office its on Bloxwich Road, just go along before the railway bridge and theres a yard with RAC flags thats the place, just becarefull if you go around the back, lots of grease and old engines to avoid.
