.22 caliber is Hard hitting
Wish stock was for lefty or righty like the silver shadow supreme
Gamo 890 Hunter (.22 cal):
Originally purchased the Gamo Silver Shadow Supreme in .177(only caliber offered-bummer). It came with the BSA 3-12x50 scope and BSA mounts & rings. Its scope had chips in objective ring and the aluminium mounts/rings/scope stop were junk. Exchanged the Shadow for a Gamo Hunter 890s in .22 caliber and BSA 3-12x40 scope. Immediately threw away the BSA aluminium rings/mounts/scope stop and purchased Beeman steel one piece mount/rings with built-in stop pin ($55) at Sportsman Warehouse in Boise, ID. Mount has 4 screws on each ring and 4 screws on base and the stop pin fits in one of the four holes on top of the grooved receiver. Sighted rifle in at 20yds with about 15 shots. 14 year old daughter had 4 holes touching each other on bull eyes at 20 yards (She has no trouble cocking it). Shooting 3/4" groups at 40 yards. .22 is so much harder hitting than .177 Just wish the stock was for lefty or righty. The rifle has solid big rifle feel and the scope has held zero with the Beeman mount. Would have ordered another Silver Shadow Supreme if offered in .22 caliber. The 890 trigger is smoother than the shadow's and I have not had to adjust it. I would definitely recommend the Gamo Hunter 890s in .22 Caliber and the BSA 3-12x 40 scopes (with the right rings/mount/scope stop). Rifle came with Crossman premier 14.3 grain pellets but would not tightly group with these (Pellet diameter was too small to fit snugly in chamber). Same hole groups at 20 yards with Benjamin Sheridan 'Diablo' 14.3 grains.
