Good Points

very accurate, well made, rekord trigger, built on silencer. Great for hunting with.

Bad Points

A bit on the heavy side 9lbs unscoped, the safety is automatic,it can not be reset if you decide not to take the shot.

General Comments

I was into minds of either buying a webley stingray or a HK97, (webley let me down on waiting for their shipment of wood to come from italy) so i bought the HK97 instead as its a hunting rifle as well, boy was I chuffed when I got the scope set up and zerode in, the accuary of the 97 is brilliant I haven't missed 30yrd shot yet, if you want to buy a springer karbine this is the one to get.

You can put the safety back on a HW97K if you are careful. The safety is put on in the final inch of cocking the rifle. If you re-cock the rifle (you will not feel any spring pressure as it's already cocked) the safety will pop back out. Make sure your hand is no where near the trigger and your other hand no where near the muzzle. Point the rifle at the ground, be careful. Also, walking around with a cocked spring rifle for a long time, will greatly reduce the springs life and its not good practice - buy a pcp with a good safety catch.

I agree that walking around with a cocked rifle
is indeed a dangerous practice, but the point made
with reference to 'weakening the spring 'is not
true,in fact a spring under compression will slightly increase it's capability in the long term, and I do mean slightly..
