General Comments

Having been the proud owner of a BSA hornett for a few months now im happy to say my first few steps into the world of PCP rifles has been nothing short of a pleasure!
I changed to a Hornett from a BSA lightning and expected good things..having fiddled with a friends s400 to get the feel of pcp...but when I took my Hornett out into the field I was not prepeared for the awesome feel and handling of this beautiful piece of kit!
Loading the gun is simple..flick the release catch and the loading probe springs back to allow access to the port...thumb a pellet home and return the probe to position...once learnt..maybe 5 seconds to reload! Next cock the gun....the push button cocking device, located under the front of the barrel at the far end of the stock is a masterpiece of thought and design! locate your target, get aimed up...then cock the gun simply by pressing with one of your front hand fingers! a small almost inaudible click and your ready to send a pellet! superb design! add to that the ease of un-cocking, simply hold the cocking button in and squeeze the trigger and that part of the gun is rounded beyond belief!
My combo is et up with a set of 4*9*50 illuminated scopes and the BSA SAS silencer..and the accuracy and handling of the gun are nothing short of amazing! 2cm grouping at 20 yards are an easy task with this gun! anyone thinking of stalking rabbits and suchlike is going to find hitting the kill zone a pleasure every time!
my one gripe is the charging port! BSA possibly taking a look at the market and opting for a probe type charger, either from gas bottle of stirrup pump. The probe slips into a charging port on the underside of the main chamber at the business end of the stock. two O rings providing grip for the charging process! However on my gun the charging port was damaged from new, and the probe became stuck afetr charging which has caused the loss of several O rings and has now resulted in the return of the gun to BSA for a replacement port! For those not able to afford a bottle to charge from, the stirrup pump is a good choice for this gun...but be careful..it is a good workout! and if your charging from low then you can be sure of needing to take a breather in the 5 minutes it will take you to charge to the full 232 bar again!
all in all this is a superb gun...the addtion of the new model, which now comes with an added safety catch only makes what is a brilliant gun, better! dont be put off by the price! Cheap compared to the contenders on the market! this is a superb piece of kit!
