Good Points

Picture quality is excellent and the depth of the TV while not of plasma proportions is very slim.

Bad Points

Lamp has a limited life span - mine blew after just 53 weeks. Replacement cost = £450.00

General Comments

While the LG RE-44SZ20RD was attractively priced initially - too my cost have discovered that the lamp has only a limited life span and costs £450.00 to repair/replace. The LG authorised repair agent also required £372.48 just to collect and return the TV with no guarantee of repairability.
TV is great when working but is now proving to be a very expensive item. Consumers should be made aware of these hidden costs before buying. Needless to say LG completely uninterested!!!

Were you shuting the TV down as requested? i.e using the standby switch first, waiting for fan to stop and then switching off at the power button.

Yes - all in accordance with Manual. New lamp fitted very expensively and now have problem that set will not always start up. Goes from stand by to flashing orange, fan starts up and then just goes back to stand by. Usually takes two or three goes to get it started but as of this evening can't get it to go at all. I am now looking for a new TV and will NEVER BUY ANOTHER LG PRODUCT - Not only because I'm completely fed up with this TV, but more importantly because there is effectively no proper after sales support.
