Easiest desktop software to install and use,
clean interface.
Spotty documentation,
no disk partition wizard.
I have been using Lycoris Desktop/LX since I first heard about it (February 2002). From February until July, I used Desktop/LX, Build 44, which is the Lycoris Desktop/LX Amethyst Release Update 1. Since July, I've been using Update 2, (Build 46), and I've also tested several Alpha and Beta test builds.
This is one really simple, solid, and usable desktop system. Even though the product is in its relative infancy compared to most other software on the market, it is stable, very usable, almost completely automatic to set up, and easy enough to use that you don't have to be a computer expert to use it.
The documentation could stand to be enlarged and improved, but I understand that the company is working on that. Since Desktop/LX is intended to be used by people who don't have to be computer experts, I also think that a disk partition wizard should be part of the installation, and it should offer either an automatic disk resizing or the option by the consumer to decide how to manage their disk. If these two items are addressed in the future, this desktop will be nearly perfect.
As it is, Desktop/LX is a fixture on my system, and I use it nearly every day for my daily tasks.
I highly recommend it.
