Timings.
Non-stop service to Bangkok.
Excellent on board staff.
Food and Entertainment very good.
Miserable check-in staff at Gatwick.
Old Boeing 747-300 which needed cleaning.
Phuket Air started flying non-stop from London Gatwick to Bangkok in July 2004.
The Spanish lady that checked us in at Gatwick was really the most miserable person that I have come across and clearly hated her job, she made us all feel that she was doing a big favour by checking us onto the flight. This is not a good way to begin a holiday.
All the Thai staff were excellent both on our outward flight and our return one. The legroom was good and the food, entertainment was also very good. All drinks were free and there were three choices at mealtimes.
On our return flight back to London the plane made an unscheduled stop in Dubai for one hour, no reason was given but the Captain was very apologetic.
There was none of the usual duty free sales on board the aircraft which was a welcome change.
My only complaint is that the interior of the plane was dirty and tatty in places, for example the toilets had broken seat covers and the fixtures were all cracked. The seats looked old and some of the armrests were ripped.
However, overall it was a very good service and in my opinion much better longhaul than Virgin or BA.
